Christine Ghezzo is a world music singer who specializes in various repertoires, among which are traditional and
ritual songs from Romania, Hungary, Italy and Greece. She was born in Queens, NYC - the most diverse place in the world, which
greatly influenced her to sing in over 12 languages. Both of her parents are musicians and music professors. Her father, Dinu
Ghezzo, was a contemporary composer, conducter and pianist who was the Director of Music Composition at NYU (Steinhardt School).
He passed away in December 2011, but remains a guiding light for her both musically and spiritually. Her mother, Marta Ghezzo,
is a professor of Music Theory at Lehman College as well as an author of music theory and history text books. Because of her
family background, Christine began singing and performing as a child and has over 20 years of experience performing in concerts
and festivals internationally. For the past nine years, she has also been studying and performing North Indian Classical
Music. Her love of Indian Ragas and Bhajans has expanded into the joyful practice of Kirtan, which is a form of call and response
chanting in the Hindu tradition. She has launched a Tampa Bay based Kirtan group called "Kirtananda", which integrates
traditional and newly composed Kirtan chants with Indian Classical Music and Eastern European blessing songs.
